Welcome to becoming ourselves, the podcast, where we help you answer the questions Who Am I? And why am I here. And then we help you get out of your own way because the world is waiting for you to show up and own your power. You have been placed on this earth for purpose, with purpose and on purpose by a God who loves you fiercely. And he has called you to something that has been specifically created for you right now. I'm Juli Wenger. I'm a coach and author, speaker and Enneagram teacher, Jesus lover, and an entrepreneur that rocks ADHD, I am passionate about helping you step into the life you've called to, that something you know is possible, but haven't been able to reach. So buckle up, because it's not always an easy ride. But on the other side, is a life that is fired up, fulfilled. Let's go. Okay, for those of you who have been with me on this podcast journey for a while, you might have noticed something different today, we have new intro music and a new intro period. Why? Because it is our 100th episode. I'm so excited. So we're taking a pause from our author to authority series, so that we can celebrate, which is not something that always comes naturally to me. And at the same time as I've been on this. Well, in the season lately, I've continued self discovery, and understanding how I'm wired, I'm celebrating that I have been so consistent in this process since November 2020. We haven't missed a week, which is super exciting to me, because I sometimes do the shiny object new thing, I get bored easily. I like to change things up. Which is also probably why this is our third set of intro music in a year and a half. But anyway, here's where we're going with this episode is I want to spend a little bit of time in the celebration mode on why bother with a project like this. Because I've talked to a lot of people and they're like, Oh, I'd love to do a podcast, I'd love to take on a project like this. But you have to have motivation that will sustain over time. And this is where we get to blend in with this purpose conversation because our purpose that is for us, but not about us pulls us through when things get muddy when things get sticky. When things get challenging when we maybe don't want to anymore, that focus on what is the impact that we're here to make? What is the transformation, we're here to contribute to who is it that we want to support? That is what helps keep us consistent? And are why is not a project or why is not a specific role. Or why is above that. And if we look at me as an example, my wife is very much around empowering people to help them find their fire and live their purpose and be authentic and powerfully them. And to be able to do that through the podcast. That's been such a blessing to me, to give space to encourage people and inspire people and shake up your stories because sometimes we're overly committed to stories we don't even realize we have. And hearing someone else's perspective hearing someone else's story. And we've had a lot of amazing guests who have been so vulnerable and so transparent with us. We can see ourselves in their stories. We can look at their journeys and say, Oh, that that sounds like me. That sounds like that challenge I went through that sounds like that call that I know is on my life, but I haven't stepped into. But if they can do it, if they can make that change, and maybe I can too. And that's been one of the big blessings to me. In doing this, you know, this project that was never intended to be a sales funnel, or to bring in clients but just to reach more people and have authentic conversations that could help trigger spark motivate you. This is for you. It's not about me. And this was a God call, like legit something that he said go do this thing. Okay, sounds like fun. And it is fun most of the time. But hearing your stories, whether it's how you feel seen in a way that you haven't or haven't often when we're doing things like Enneagram episodes and series or that you realize you can make a change because you You have witnessed other people's hold their nose and jump moments. Or that you circle back to episodes about things like impostor syndrome on the regular whenever it pops up, to help remind you of how you can take your power back, to help remind you that impostor syndrome is an invitation. I am so grateful for those stories that you share back with me. And that in some small way, we the collective we that has been involved in this whole project has been able to serve you, in some capacity has been able to spark you. So here, here's what I've learned. Here's where we're going next. Number one. Okay, there's a few things here. Number one, perfection is not the goal. We have had our share of sound issues or lost trains of thoughts or where we've had to rerecord episodes because it just didn't save anywhere. And in those moments, when that criticism that self critique can come up, it's pausing and saying, okay, hold up. Perfection is not the goal. Authenticity is the goal. Authenticity is the target. That is always the focus, how can we be authentic and vulnerable, and real with people? Because there is so much BS out there, and there is so much masking, and there is so much, especially in the coaching industry, so much parading around, like I got everything figured out, you know what we don't? We don't, we've gone on a journey. And we've learned a skill set, hopefully, because some people just slap it on the door. And that's a whole nother thing for another day I could tirade. And we don't have it all figured out, because nobody does. No one does. So how can we be authentic and vulnerable and real with you and still empower you to stand in your power and stand in who you've been created to be. Number two, you will mess up kind of ties into number one, if perfectionism is not the target, but you will mess up. If you take on a project that is of this scale on this kind of continuing nature, you're gonna see things like bringing on guests that don't end up being a good fit, you might step on people's toes or say the wrong things. You might come up against someone else's trauma, you might have their trauma, hit your trauma. And it can get complicated. And yet, we're here to in Brene Brown's words, get it right, not be right. I have had these cool opportunities in my messing up to learn where I've had guests like Jocelyn Davidson, who's a good friend of mine that was on and we were talking about human trafficking are talking about issues of equity, we're talking about racism. And I said, as we were recording, in passing just one of these normal, subconscious things, our indigenous people. And after we recorded she reached out she said, Hey, our is possessive. So it's the not our like, Can I offer you that feedback? I was like, yeah, absolutely. Because I'm learning. And now that I'm aware of it, I can make a shift. So being available to the feedback being available to being given that honest reflection back or that honest perspective from other people that helped grow you and expand you. There's beauty in that, and there's something to be grateful for, even if it feels crunchy sometimes. Lesson number three, compassion and curiosity are the way through. When there is a tension when there is a mess up when that inner critic comes up, it's like it's not good enough. The way through the mud, the way through that sticky period is always compassion and curiosity. I mean, this is essentially my frame on everything. As a coach is how can we be more compassionate with us? And how can we be more compassionate with other people? And stay curious? Because when we're curious, there isn't a whole lot of room for the judgment and the criticism and the shame spirals. It's like, hold up, let's just let's zoom out on this. And let's ask some questions. Hey, ego, what are you trying to tell me right now? What are you trying to protect me from? Google's hopping and then fun? I don't understand. She says. That's amazing. Okay, so number four. This is tactical, hire stuff out. As a person who likes to take on a lot of projects, and do a lot of different things and have variety. At and who struggles a little bit with consistency and getting bored. Part of the reason that we have been so consistent in the production of this podcast is people. Sophie that helped me launch it in the first place, Daniel, our podcast editor, Heather, Lindsay and Laura who have been in support roles over time in actually getting this out. And doing the little detail back end pieces that are kind of the bane of my existence, that I'm totally capable of, but are not the things that I want to or I'm called to spend the bulk of my time on. So big thank you to them for being part of the backbone of this whole process, being encouragement, being consistent in their own right. So that we can produce something and we can offer something to the world, that can make a difference. Because frankly, if one episode is for one person, that's enough for me, if one person walks away from listening to something, and they go, oh, man, that's a whole new way of thinking about life. And maybe I'm capable of more than I think. Maybe God loves me more than I thought. Maybe more is possible for my life, and I get to choose to go after it. That's enough. Let's jump to lesson number. Let's see, I'm counting over here, five, b, all of me. There has been this cool journey. And if you go back and you listen to early episodes, and halfway along the way episodes, there's been a lot of shifting in me, not in the Podcast, the podcast has always been about identity and purpose, and authenticity, but my ability to be authentic, my ability to stand powerfully in who I am and what I believe my ability to be bold, that's been shifting. And through the process of this over the last almost couple of years, year and a half, there has been this call that God's placed on me to be bolder about my faith. And initially, it was something that I was pretty. That's not comfortable. I don't know that I want to go there. I don't know that I want to break social contracts with my pre existing sphere of people, my network. But he's kept tapping me and saying, hey, just be honest about it. And frankly, I can't separate my faith from my journey, because my faith has been the foundation of my journey. Is there a lot that transfers into the journeys of people who don't share faith with me? Absolutely. There are some foundational principles and pieces that will make your life so much more purposeful and meaningful and enjoyable, and that you will be more fired up fulfilled and free. And at the same time, there is this reality for me that freedom exists, and fulfilment exists in following and following Jesus example and listening to what the Holy Spirit is directing me to do. And so there has been this shift into Okay, Julie, it's okay to be silly. It's okay to be fiery, it's okay to be powerful. It's also okay to be soft. So okay to be reflective. But just be who you are. On the day you're recording. Be who you are, even if it's fractured rambling trains of thoughts sometimes, even if it's a on the fly recording that you have legit no plan for. Because sometimes the best stuff comes out then it's one of the superpowers of how my brain is wired. And it's interesting because sometimes I think that made no sense. And then I go back and I listen to it. I'm like, huh, that actually piece together. So I surprised myself in my own authentic nature and showing up at what can show up. So trust you trust that being you is enough. Now want to jump to what's coming. What can you expect, as we continue on this journey of becoming ourselves the podcast? Well, number one, we are going to finish out our book series, which Please, Lord, let this book launch July 14, that is my new target. Pray for me all because it has been a process and a learning curve and there are definitely some sticky bits and frustrations along the way. So we're gonna wrap that up. We're gonna continue with a couple more guest interviews, talking about their journey to authorship. I'm going to keep you in the loop. goop in terms of what this whole process is like, and then we're going to take our first ever break. It feels kind of strange to me. But the plan is take August off, because we all need rest. We all need that recharge. And it's summer. And my kids are little. And I've been thinking a lot about priorities. So we're going to get the book launched. And then we're going to take a break. And here's where I'm excited is that in the fall, when we pick back up, there is going to be a continuation of this authenticity. And there's going to be a consistency to being bold, about what I believe in faith and how God's showing up and how he's moving. Because we need more of that, because that's what he's calling me to. And I fought him enough times to know that it never works out the way you think it's going to. We're going to have less guests. And more practical, live out your God calling Get out of your own way content. So if there's anything that you're particularly struggling with that you want us to do an episode on, drop me a DM, and we'll see if we can work it into the plan. We might also do an ADHD series, we might we might. So all of that said, thank you from the bottom of my heart. From the fullness of my heart, all of my heart, bottom is kind of a weird thing for being here and being on this journey with me for tuning in week after week for sharing it with your friends for dropping reviews that help us get out in front of more people. And for being you on the journey. I would love if you would send me a note and let me know what has landed for you. If there's anything that's encouraged you that has shaken you up that has changed your perspective. I'd love to hear about it. Next week we're picking back up with from author to authority, and I can't wait to see you then all my love and Virtual hugs. I hope this episode stirred something up in you or gave you some hope.
